OBJECTIVE OF COOPERATION SYNERGY

Design, manufacturing, and promotion of a range of hybrid nanostructured anti-corrosion coatings for application onto structural steel, during the steel production process (in situ). A sustainable product design incorporates economic imperatives, ethics and other socio-economic dimensions of sustainability and uses ecological principles as design and implementation methods. An ideal product is one that maximizes all three areas, being good for the environment, profitable for the company/organization and improving society.

CHALLENGE

Corrosion of structural steel is one of the most damaging and costly natural occurrences seen in construction today, and it can cause buildings, bridges, and infrastructure to collapse. The most common types of corrosion result from electrochemical reactions of metal surfaces with oxygen or other agents. Can Perpetual Damaging Corrosion Be Sustainably Prevented?

SOLUTION

Specifically, the proposed investment includes the design, manufacture, and promotion of a series of hybrid nanostructured anti-corrosion coatings for their application to structural steel during the steel production process (in situ). This series of products will be addressed to steel production industries (steel mills) and will be adapted to the production needs of each production unit. Each product will be specially modified for the needs (custom made) of each production line, for each customer.

Although the concept of a hybrid nanostructured anti-corrosion coating of structural steel is one, different series of products should be prepared.

In general, the adaptation (customization) of personalized products to the needs of each customer is referred to in the context of international marketing as a product strategy adapted to different needs and desires of our target groups.

By appropriately changing product properties to match each customer's production conditions, customization follows a market-based orientation (as opposed to a product-based orientation) and aims to increase customer satisfaction by customizing new products of the company, in each case's special needs.

The product range to be designed includes protective coatings for structural steel that will be applied during its production process (extrusion). Therefore, each product will be custom made, in terms of:

• type of structural steel (rod, roll, etc.).
• application method (spraying/immersion).
• conditions of application, i.e. different temperature, production flow rate, spatial planning, etc.
